Canyon Overlook
A short hike with a big payoff—Canyon Overlook is one of the easiest ways to take in sweeping views of Zion without a major time commitment.
The trail begins just east of the Zion–Mt. Carmel Tunnel and follows a mix of slickrock, carved steps, and a few short sections with railings. It’s an easy-to-follow path that keeps things interesting without feeling difficult.
As you move along, the views start opening up quickly—first into Pine Creek Canyon, then outward toward the main canyon. By the time you reach the overlook, you’re looking out across massive walls and layered terrain in a way that feels far bigger than the effort it takes to get there.
This is a popular hike, so timing makes a difference. Early morning or later in the day will give you a better experience—and the light at dusk in particular would be beautiful here.
Don’t Miss…
Look up at the canyon walls—bighorn sheep are often moving through this area, and it’s one of the better places in Zion to spot them.
A short hike with a big payoff—Canyon Overlook offers one of Zion’s most accessible viewpoints.
